When you're bioprinting, it's important to choose a bioink that works well with your printer and the type of cells you're using. Make sure you have a solid 3D model, whether it's one you've created or one you've bought. Start with clean, compatible tips and try out different nozzle sizes, speeds, and layer heights to find what works best. Keep an eye on the temp for both the printer and materials, and remembre that printing with cells often requires a little extra pressure
 
Yeah, bioprinting can be super exciting but you also really have to pay attention to its quirks!
Choosing the bioink is absolutely crucial!
A team at an old project tried using a hydrogel designed for extrusion with a microfluidic printer and it was a total disaster!
That's when they started to really double-check the rheological properties of bioink and its interaction with specific printing mechanisms.
 
I completely agree with both of you. I had a similar experience at a short bioprinting workshop I attended some time ago. We didn't realize how much the size of the nozzle and the pressure settings could impact cell viability in a softer hydrogel. Some of our earlier prints seemed fine structurally, but the cell survival was terrible. I learned pretty quickly that getting those settings right can really make or break the whole process. It's great to hear that others have faced the same challenges
